The activities

To date, there are 7 practical activities and 3 support documents in the spelling scheme.

Word Lists

There are several sheets for these. Firstly, each six week set is listed on single sheets,

there are also individual list sheets, useful for display.

Sentences

Spelling understanding can be embedded and used in their own writing when children undertand

the words. To enable this, the chidlren are encouraged to write their own sentences for each word.

Alphabetical order

Sort all 15 words into alphabetical order. An alphanet is provided on each sheet in upper and lower case to help. Great group task.

Wordsearches

A familiar favouite of children. The words in these go in five directions – horizontal, forwards and backward, vertical, forwards and backward and diagonal forwards. Answers are provided as part of the file.

Crack the codes

Use the number codes to translate into the children’s spelling list. Answers are provided.

Definitions

Only by understanding the word, can children use these spellings to apply to their written work. For this task the chidlren need to research the meaning themselves.
